As Jim and I walk onto Baggott Field, we meet Larry, the head baseball coach. We all quickly connect about Larry’s coaching career and Jim’s playing days at Texas. The guys start gathering in the dugout in anticipation for what will happen next. I quickly introduce myself and hand it over to Jim. Now you have to realize, Jim has a very unique perspective on life. He understands people because of his degree in Psychology, knows the sports world from his former days as a collegiate baseball player, and has an incredible story of coming to deep and authentic faith in Christ. When we booked “The MAZE” I knew we needed to get Jim to share his story and talents with the baseball team at Cal Poly.
Little did the team know what they were getting. Jim spent ten minutes doing a few magic tricks, and even reading minds, which still blows MY mind. Some of the guys were so intrigued that they came to the show. Fast forward to that evening. Our venue was literally packed out (1,300 people) to see Jim Munroe perform a “social experiment” called The MAZE. It was an incredibly entertaining and engaging show the whole night – capped off with a “trick” involving a very sharp knife. Well, it’s not a trick. It’s actually real.
During the second half, Jim shared about his fight with Leukemia and how that journey propelled him to much deeper faith in Christ. The intricate details of his journey so powerfully point to the realities of God’s love and care. You have to hear Jim’s story for yourself.
Would you be praying for us as we continue to have conversations with those who came to The MAZE? Pray we would seek to lovingly and rightly present the good news of Jesus to those who are seeking to know the living God. If you are praying, please post in the comments section so I can be encouraged by your partnership with me. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.
